Key Bowler Lungi Ngidi Ruled Out for T20I Clash Against India”
South Africa is gearing up for a three-match T20I series against India, set to kick off this Sunday in Durban. Unfortunately, the home team has received a setback as one of their key bowlers, Lungi Ngidi, will miss the series due to a left lateral ankle sprain. Ngidi, a 27-year-old fast bowler, last played during the league stage of the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
To focus on his recovery, Ngidi has been released from the T20I squad and will undergo rehabilitation under the guidance of the South African medical team. His availability for the upcoming Test series against India later in the month will be determined after a thorough assessment.
Stepping in for Ngidi in the T20I team is Beuran Hendricks, a left-arm seamer. If selected in the playing XI, this will mark his return to international cricket after a two-year hiatus.
The South African T20I squad includes Aiden Markram (captain), Ottniel Baartman, Matthew Breetzke, Nandre Burger, Gerald Coetzee (1st and 2nd T20Is), Donovan Ferreira, Reeza Hendricks, Marco Jansen (1st and 2nd T20Is), Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, David Miller, Beuran Hendricks, Andile Phehlukwayo, Tabraiz Shamsi, Tristan Stubbs, and Lizaad Williams. The team will look to regroup and put up a strong performance in the absence of Ngidi as they face India in the T20I series.
