In today’s stock market, mid-cap stocks saw the biggest drop. The metal, auto, and financial services sectors also experienced significant selling. Among Asian markets, all except China ended the day in negative territory.

Stock Market Top gainers in the NIFTY 50 index included:

  1. Axis Bank at Rs 972.05, up by 1.74%
  2. ITC at Rs 434.35, up by 0.38%
  3. HCL Tech at Rs 1,231.80, up by 0.23%
  4. Adani Ports at Rs 770.35, up by 0.16%
  5. IndusInd Bank at Rs 1,414.65, up by 0.14%

On the other hand, the top losers in the NIFTY 50 index were:

  1. M&M at Rs 1,506.10, down by 4.02%
  2. Bajaj Finance at Rs 7,421.80, down by 3.54%
  3. UPL at Rs 561.05, down by 3.29%
  4. Asian Paints at Rs 2,960.30, down by 3.28%
  5. Bajaj Finserv at Rs 1,560.00, down by 3.19%

In other financial news:

  • The US GDP growth in the July-Sept quarter was 4.9%, an increase from the previous quarter’s 2.1%.
  • India has begun producing ‘reference’ petrol and diesel for automobile testing.
  • The European Central Bank has decided to keep interest rates unchanged for the first time since July 2022.
  • Ola Electric secured Rs 3,200 crore in funding from Temasek-led investors and SBI.

Notable updates from specific companies:

  • Colgate India declared a dividend of Rs 22.
  • PNB reported a 327% year-on-year increase in net profit for the July-Sept quarter, reaching Rs 1,756 crore.
  • Shriram Finance announced a dividend of Rs 20 per share.
